A List of Local Campgrounds You Can Check Out This Summer in in the Kenosha, WI Area
With July 4th coming up, you may be wanting to take some time away from work and enjoy the great outdoors. However, you may not have the time to head all the way up north to visit some quaint Wisconsin camping. But fear not – the Kenosha, WI area has plenty of options you can use in a pinch to camp! Richard Bong State Recreation Area
With a storied past as a potential site for a jet fighter base, Richard Bong State Recreation Area is a great State Park to check out west of Kenosha. About a half-hour drive away, the space has several lakes to check out as well as the Sunrise Campground, Sunset Campground, and an accessible cabin for those with disabilities. Plus, it offers the Brighton Dale Links Golf Course!
Cliffside Campground
Located near Racine, WI, Cliffside Park Campground is another short jaunt away from our area. Offering some breathtaking views of Lake Michigan with various hiking trails, the 92-site campground offers plenty of shade. As a bonus, the campsites offer both water and electric hookups for those who want a more casual camping experience.
Melody Park Campground
Located near Twin Lakes, Melody Park sits right on the edge of Elizabeth Lake. The lake – which mostly sits within Wisconsin state lines, those looking to beat the heat can jump in the lake or check out the campground’s outdoor pool! The local area also has some nice spots for walking and biking.
Happy Acres Campground
If you’re looking for a family owned and operated campground, check out Happy Acres Campground just north of Paddock Lake, WI. Providing a range of different camp sites, the area has places to hike and enjoy nature, as well as play arcade games, basketball courts, and more. As a bonus, the owners are known to run monthly special events the whole family will enjoy!
